How UK Universities Read Nepali Results
Each UK university converts NEB grades and Nepali bachelor's marks into its own scale, so requirements differ. NEB grades map to mark bands: C+ is 50–59 marks, B is 60–69, B+ is 70–79 and A is 80–89. Treat the ranges below as indicative and check each university's Nepal entry page.
Indicative Entry Levels by University Type
| University Type | After +2 (Bachelor's) | After Bachelor's (Masters) |
|---|---|---|
| Modern / mid-ranked | About 2.0–2.8 GPA (50–60%) | About 50–55% |
| Established / strong ranking | About 3.2+ GPA (70%+) | About 60–65% |
| Highly competitive | 3.6+ GPA (80%+) | 65–70%+ |
Specific subjects add rules, such as Maths or Physics for engineering, or science subjects for health courses.
If Your GPA Is Low
- Foundation or pathway year: a route into a bachelor's degree if grades or subjects fall short
- Modern universities: often more flexible on grades and strong on support
- Strong SOP and work experience: help Masters applicants
- Higher English score: a good IELTS or PTE score can strengthen a borderline file
Beyond GPA — What Else Counts
- English test or accepted alternative
- Personal statement or SOP that matches your course
- Academic references and CV (Masters)
- Clear explanation of any study gap
- Passport and complete transcripts
