Quick Answer
COMPEX 2026-27 registration closed on September 10, 2026, and the computer-based exam ran from September 28 to October 3, 2026 in Kathmandu. COMPEX is the Embassy of India, Kathmandu's scholarship scheme for Nepali students who want undergraduate courses in India. The age limit was 16 to 23 on July 1, 2026, the application fee was NPR 400, and the Embassy accepts applications only directly from the student, not through consultants or agencies. Watch the Embassy's scholarship page for the next notice.
What COMPEX is
COMPEX is a scholarship scheme run by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu for Nepali nationals who want to study undergraduate courses in India. Selection is through a computer-based test (CBT) conducted by the Embassy. Students also search for it as the COMPEX exam, the COMPEX scholarship form or, by a common misspelling, the "complex scholarship". It is the same scheme. The Embassy says its nomination of a name does not guarantee admission to any Indian college or university, and that confirmation of admission is given only after it receives confirmation from the institution.

Exam schedule and format
The exam is a computer-based test held at centers in Kathmandu. The revised schedule runs over six days, from September 28 to October 3, 2026, in three shifts a day. The papers are:
- English, Physics and Chemistry (EPC): 120 minutes
- Mathematics: 60 minutes
- Biology: 60 minutes
The Embassy's instructions for exam days:
- Online admit cards were released four days before the scheduled date, and the download link was sent to each eligible candidate's registered email.
- Report 90 minutes before the session starts. The gate closes at the time on the admit card, and late entry is not allowed.
- Bring a printout of the e-admit card and an original ID (passport or Nepal citizenship card). No candidate is allowed in without them.
- Make your own arrangements to stay in Kathmandu. The Embassy pays no travel or other allowances.
- The Embassy sent mock test links by email so candidates could practice the computer-based format.

The 2026-27 notice invited applications for undergraduate courses in:
- Engineering (BE or B.Tech)

Track your application and get help
- Where the exam is held: in Kathmandu, as a computer-based test at centers in Kathmandu. You make your own travel and stay arrangements.
- How you hear about results: the Embassy informs shortlisted candidates through their individual registered email, so check it often and deal only with the Education Wing of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
- Where to ask questions about the online form: the Embassy lists a help desk email, helpdeskcompex@gmail.com, available from 10 AM to 5 PM on working days.
- Other scholarships for India: COMPEX is not the only route. See our guide to scholarships for Nepali students to study in India and our guide to studying in India.
Apply yourself: the Embassy does not accept agents
The Embassy's notice carries this warning: it only entertains applications directly from the applicant, it does not recognize or receive applications through any so-called education consultants, middle-men or agencies in Nepal, and applications received that way are liable to be rejected.
That means you must submit your own application. Admizz Education does not apply on your behalf. Our counselors can help you understand the notice, prepare for the exam and plan your options in India, but the application itself must come from you.
What happens after the exam
The Embassy says shortlisted candidates are informed through their individual registered email, and that candidates should deal only with the Education Wing of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. Once placed, a request to change college, institution or university, or to transfer the scholarship, is not entertained under any circumstances. Watch your registered email and the Embassy's scholarship page for updates.
